Dear Mountaineers and Outdoors Friends,

Please join us in this Great Event to Kilimanjaro for children’s education. This will be the most rewarding and unforgettable journey of your life and a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in life of a child in desperate need in Karatu Village, Tanzania.

With your help in this Event we can save some of these children that are living on streets to get an education and become agents of wholesome change for their society as well as the whole country. Right now these children have nothing and school is not an option.

Kilimanjaro Itinerary is as follows: 13 days in October. Depart USA on the 5th of October. Arrive home on the 18th of October.

Day 1 - Leave USA or Home

Day 2 - Arrive in Arusha Kilimanjaro International Airport
Meet your guides and transfer to Impala Hotel

Day 3 - Relaxing and acclimatizing to the new time preparing for climb
Welcome meeting with our guides starts at 5:00 p.m. at Impala Hotel (Arusha) followed by dinner

Day 4 - Machame Gate (1,830 m/6,000 ft) - Machame Camp (3,000 m/10,000 ft)
After early breakfast we start journey to Machame Camp, crossing the famous and mysterious tropical rain forest at the foothills of Kilimanjaro
Altitude gain: 1,200 m/3,940 ft

Day 5 - Machame Camp-Shira Camp (3,850 m/12,630 ft)
Today we cross a stream valley moving then to the moorland of the Shira plateau, a very unique and mesmerizing area of Kilimanjaro. Camp here tonight at Shira Plateau
Altitude gain: 820 m/2,690 ft

Day 6 - Shira Camp - via Lava Tower (4,550 m/15,000 ft) - Barranco Camp (3,950 m/13,000 ft)
Today you will encounter a five to six hour hike and see the vegetation of Kilimanjaro such as giant senecios, lobelia and helichrysum as well as the wonderful views of the lava tower and the glaciers if weather permitting. You will climb as high as 4,640 m, and then you will descend to camp in the Barranco Valley at about 3,985m allowing your body for acclimatization and enjoying the first glimpse of Kilimanjaro’s Kibo Peak.
Altitude gain: 100 m/370 ft (790 m/2,590 ft to Lava Tower)

Day 7 - Barranco Camp - Karanga Camp (4,040 m/13,255 ft)
Today you ascend the Barranco wall before crossing scree and ridges that will lead you to the Karanga valley, reaching camp at lunch time. We will have time for an acclimatization walk. From here you can see the view's western breach and southern glacier at about 4,040 m
Altitude gain: 55 m/185 ft

Day 8 - Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp (4,650 m/15,360 ft) Summit Night
Early we start our climb to Barafu, climbing at an easy pace up in a moraine ridge, enjoying the views of the southern glacier and glacial valleys along the way. We reach camp at lunch time with enough time to relax and prepare for the summit day! You will be going to the summit this evening and going to sleep at about 5:30 p.m. Attempt to summit Uhuru peak starts at mid-night
Altitude gain: 640 m/2,105 ft

12:00 a.m. Summit attempt via Stella Point (5,752 m/18,871 ft) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m/19,340 ft)
With a very slow pace you will make your final ascent across scree. Along the way to Uhru Peak, you will come across the famous glaciers of Kilimanjaro and see the most beautiful sunrise way above the clouds!

Congratulations! You are on the Roof of Africa.
After summit, descent back to Barufu Camp (4,650 m/15,350 ft) for hot lunch continuing then at 2:00 p.m. to Mweka Camp 3,000 m/10,000 ft
Altitude gain: 1,245 m/3,340 ft Barafu/ Uhuru

Day 9 - Mweka Camp-Mweka Gate
Leave camp at 8:00 a.m. and continue descending to Mweka Gate. This last section takes you back to Kilimanjaro rain forest before reaching the Gate of the National Park. We drive back to Arusha to Hotel and celebrate! Tonight we celebrate and have lots of fun at Via Via Exotic Restaurant & Pub with a live Reggae Band.

Day 12 - Karatu Village
Visit the children of Karatu village, Tanzania and recognize how the event has impacted the lives of many children

Day 13 - Departure Day
Explore around Arusha town, visit villages and local markets, shop for souvenirs, and take a look at how people live.

Flight Departs at 10:30 p.m., or stay for a 3 day safari.

Please Note: for those who want to do a safari for a few days after Kilimanjaro, you will need to let us know in advance. It is not included in the climb.
